• I Blogged, But Not Here

Hey Everyone! I know you came here looking for a blog post, and I guess technically this constitutes as one.  However, this is just a highway marker to point you to the correct place.  Simply put, I blogged for today, but not here. My friend Meredith over at the with a side of insulin blog invited me to write a guest post for a series on traveling with diabetes, and share my perspective on traveling with type 2 diabetes and congestive heart failure.  I accepted. So, head on over to her blog and check out the post titled guest blogger: mike. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Walk in the Park

April and I made a trip to Indianapolis on Saturday to drop her brother off at the airport and, on the way back to Fort Wayne, we stopped at Falls Park in Pendleton. We got to the park just as a festival was winding down for the day.  And with just enough time to purchase some delectable home baked goodies.  Banana Cake, Zucchini bread, and pumpkin bread.  OH MY GLUCOSE! After checking out a few of the booths that were still open, April and I took a nice little hike along one of the trails.  The weather was great and the scenery was just as beautiful.  Here’s a gallery for your enjoyment. And my blood glucose was at 95 mg/dl…

  • On the Road: Chicago Diabetes Expo 2011

This past weekend I embarked on a wild and crazy adventure in which I drove to Indianapolis, took a bus to Chicago and back, and then drove back to Fort Wayne. All in 24 hours. (I know what you’re thinking…and you’re right. I’m crazy. But that’s not what this post is about. 😉 ) The American Diabetes Association’s Indiana office sponsored a bus trip to Chicago on Saturday for the 2011 Chicago Diabetes Expo. And after reading about the planned trip on ADA Indiana Area’s Facebook page, I decided that I wanted to go. So, I made the necessary arrangements and plans were set. The only catch was the bus would be leaving from Indianapolis and I was in Fort…

  • Windy City, Here I Come!

The windy city is about to be invaded by a bus load of Hoosiers.  The American Diabetes Association’s Chicago Diabetes Expo is Saturday, April 16, and myself and 54 other folks from Indiana will be there. After seeing a blurb about it on the Indiana ADA facebook page Wednesday evening, I decided to reserve a seat on their bus.  So, I gave the office a call and, much to my chagrin, got an answering machine because the office had closed for the evening.  So, I left a message telling them who I was and what I wanted, and to please call me back in the morning. On Thursday morning I received a call from a nice lady named Cindy, who…

  • Bloggin from the droid, take 1

Fe fi fo fum, this little blog post was written on my droid using only two thumbs. 🙂 I’m in the midst of a much needed vacation, and so far it has been as relaxing and peaceful as I had hoped it would. I got to Louisville around 5pm on Sunday, just in time for the bbq dinner my grandma had prepared to celebrate my birthday.  We had angel food cake for dinner. Yummy! I was so tired after the long day of driving, that I went to bed around 11pm that night.  In fact, I’ve gone to bed by midnight the last three nights. That never happens.  Monday was my 27th birthday, and just as I had hoped, there…
