• Madlib gibberish

Post for day 21 of the Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge and the prompt is: Health Madlib Poem. OK, the gibberish below is just that.  Pure, unedited, computer generated gibberish.  I followed the instructions of the prompt, went to the suggested website, filled in the parts of speech, clicked generate, and the mess below is what was thrown back at me. Much like this gibberish, nothing about life with any of the types of diabetes makes sense. Nothing about life with congestive heart failure makes much sense either. There are, however, somethings about this mess that are a big part of life with these diseases. When my blood glucose is too high, you get gibberish.  When it’s too low, you…

  • Five Dinner Guests

Post for day 19 of the Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge and the prompt is: 5 Dinner Guests. So, this challenge asks us to name 5 people we’d love to have dinner with (living or deceased) and why?  Here’s my list. 1) April – I’m always up for sharing a meal with my lady. Fancy or casual, doesn’t matter.  Just the two of us getting to enjoy a bit of time together. 2) My Great Uncle & Great Grandmother – As a child, I probably spent more time at my great grandmother’s house than just about anywhere, and every night I’d eat dinner with her and my great uncle who lived with her.  This past January marked 5 years since…

  • I can haz writing stylez

Today is day 15 of the Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge and the prompt is: Writing with Style. Writing stylez?  I haz that? Oh yez, I definitely haz many writing stylez. Some times, my posts are serious. Some times my posts are funny.  And some times, they are seriously funny.  It all depends on the topic and the mood I’m in at the time. The more serious posts tend to be straight to the point.  The lighthearted posts may be a little drawn out.  Either way, they get the job done. Some days, I’m able to just sit down at the computer and start writing.  Other times, I break out my handy dandy notebook and start jotting down the thoughts…

  • Needs a Caption

Today is day 12 of the Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge and today’s prompt is: Stream of Consciousness. Today’s prompt asked us to start writing and just let things flow where they may.  Just write, don’t edit, and post.  But honestly, my brain is mush right now and I’m not up to that challenge.  So, I decided to share a silly animal photo instead. Just for giggles, I think this photo could use a caption.  So, here’s your challenge.  In keeping with the spirit of the prompt, post the first one liner you think of. And…..go!

  • Happy Birthday to Me!

Break out the party hats, noise makers, and glitter coated confetti. Get some diet coke and bacon cupcakes, too.  Today we celebrate my 28th birthday.  Another year with all of you. I’m not going to bore you with some long, emotional and reflective piece about living another year, etc…  I spend enough time doing that on this blog through out the year.  Since today is Wordless Wednesday, I thought I’d share some photos that I shot with my birthday present, instead. I bought myself a Canon EOS Rebel t2i DSLR camera on Friday and spent Sunday evening hiking and snapping photos along the trails around one of the local colleges.  The weather was beautiful and I got some really great…
